This week, we continue our Lent series: Learning to Pray Like Jesus, looking at how Jesus taught us to pray. When His disciples asked Him how to pray, He gave them the Lord’s Prayer—not just words to recite, but a framework for deepening our relationship with God. This prayer shapes our hearts, aligning us with God’s will, teaching us dependence, calling us to forgive, and seeking God’s protection. Prayer is not about getting our way, but about inviting God into our world and stepping into His.

This week, we begin our Lent series: Learning to Pray Like Jesus, exploring how Jesus made prayer a priority in His daily life. His ministry began in the context of prayer, and despite the demands of crowds, He consistently withdrew to spend time with the Father. Jesus teaches us that prayer is not just for crises but a regular habit, essential for a deep relationship with God. If Jesus needed to pray, how much more do we?

This week, we delve into Habakkuk 3, a powerful prayer of praise and trust. The prophet reflects on God's past acts of deliverance, acknowledging His sovereignty and power. Despite fear of the coming judgment, Habakkuk chooses to rejoice in the Lord, trusting that God will be his strength and salvation. This chapter emphasizes worship, trust, and hope in God’s faithfulness, even in the midst of hardship.

This week, we explore Habakkuk 2, where God reassures the prophet that justice will come in due time. Habakkuk is told to write the vision plainly, a promise that the righteous will live by faith. The chapter also pronounces five “woes” against the Babylonians for their greed, violence, and arrogance, declaring that their downfall is certain. This passage teaches us about the importance of patience, faith, and the certainty of God’s justice.

This week, we dive into Habakkuk 1, where the prophet cries out to God about the violence, injustice, and corruption in Judah. God’s response is shocking—He is raising up the ruthless Babylonians as an instrument of judgment. This leaves Habakkuk struggling to understand how a just God could use such a wicked nation. This passage challenges us to wrestle with faith, doubt, and the mystery of God’s plans, reminding us that questioning God is part of a real relationship with Him.

In the final week of our Core Values series, we reflect on the importance of covenant—our commitment to God and to one another as His people. Rooted in Acts 2:42-47, this passage gives us a powerful picture of the early church, where believers lived in deep partnership, sharing life, faith, and mission together. This week’s teaching invites us to reflect on what it means to covenant together as a church family, embracing the biblical call to community and shared mission. As we conclude this series, we gath

This week, guest preacher Martyn Travers explores the importance of serving as part of the church community. Rooted in 1 Corinthians 12:1-27, this week’s message highlights God’s design for us to live in partnership with Him and with one another. Using the powerful analogy of the body, the passage reminds us of three key truths: our unity as the body of Christ, our responsibility to care for and serve one another, and our dependence on each other to function as God intended.

In week three of our Core Values series, we focus on the transformative power of sharing—sharing in the life and love of God through the Holy Spirit and sharing our gifts, joys, and sorrows within a caring community. Rooted in James 2:14-26, this week’s message challenges us to live out our faith in tangible ways. True faith, we’ll learn, isn’t just about belief—it’s about action. Faith that doesn’t move us to serve, love, and care for others is, as James says, dead.

In the second week of our Core Values series, we’ll reflect on the importance of gathering together as a church family. Using Hebrews 10:19-24, we’ll explore how participating regularly in "together times" strengthens our faith, deepens our sense of belonging, and reminds us of the hope we have in Christ. This passage, written to believers who were struggling with discouragement, encourages us to persevere by recognising the forgiveness we’ve received, the confidence we have in Christ’s work, and the signi

This Sunday, we begin our new series Core Values by exploring the foundation of our faith as followers of Jesus Christ. In a message titled We Believe, we’ll reflect on how our shared statement of faith at Crofton Baptist Church shapes not only what we believe but also how we live and belong together as God’s people. Using 1 Peter 2:10 as a key verse—“Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy”—we’ll explore how our belief

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at Crofton Baptist Church (details here) for our Sunday Service starting at 10:30am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space in our car park or nearby streets and to find a seat before the service begins. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team who will be wearing a Welcome lanyard.

After the service, we serve tea, coffee, and biscuits. It's a wonderful opportunity to meet new people and connect with our community. All refreshments are free.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There are disabled toilets in the main foyer.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10:30am with a warm welcome from one of our team members. Then follows a time of sung worship, led by our band. We typically have 2 or 3 songs lasting approximately 20 minutes. Sometimes a person might pray out loud or read a small passage from the bible. Sometimes people share things that they believe God is saying to the whole church family. This might seem strange the first time you hear it but it’s all part of our connecting with God. We then share news and notices, usually about what’s going on in the life of the church, followed by a short 'all aged' talk that engages the whole church family. One of our leaders will then give a sermon that is bible based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We then finish with worship once again, singing 3 or 4 songs. Sometimes there is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.

What about my kids?

We have a great programme lined up for kids of all ages:

  • Creche (0 months to 3 years). Children under 6 months are welcome but must be accompanied by their parent/carer at all times.
  • Starters (3-5 years / preschool age)
  • Followers (6-8 years)
  • Pilgrims (9-11 years)
  • Intrepid (12-14 years)
  • Next Gen (15-18 years)

Children stay with their parent or grown-up at the start of the service for the welcome and songs. We really value worshipping God all together as a family. At the end of the notices someone will announce that it’s time for the younger members to go to their various groups. You will need to go with your children to their groups and register them as part of our child safety policy.

The kids group activities vary depending on the age but usually there is a friendly welcome, bible stories, testimonies, praying, music, craft, drama, fun games and free play. Our leaders will bring back the children during the final set of worship songs.

Check out Life Groups page for more information, or speak to Moises who can put you in touch with a life group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.
